2016 Season
2016 was a brilliant year for Souths GFC both on and off the field. With numerous social days and club bonding sessions the club as a whole was as tight as a community you're likely to find. That cohesiveness was evident on the pitch with all 3 Souths teams making the grand final.
The Women's team were extremely dominant in the league and their performance all season translated on Grand Final Day when they beat Easts in a brilliant display. With a coaching team of Greg Hynes, Ronan McAnarney, Derek Creighton and Ronan Brady the ladies Souths team have become the team to beat in the Ladies competition.
The Reserves League was difficult with some teams unable to put teams together but Souths Reserves under coach Jim Moran always had a strong showing of lads keen to have a game. That commitment shined through with the team winning the League easily. Nothing was certain though and on final day Souths had a tough game against John Mitchell's ahead but after a tight first half the Souths boys proved too strong and ran away with the game to win the match.
The Senior Mens team had a brilliant season with good football being played and a strong team work ethic on the training pitch. Spearheaded by two Souths Lifetime Members; Johnny McDonnell and Pip Healy, the mens team battled all year in a tough division to finish second under a dominant Harp's team. On final day the Souths team fought admirably and gave Harps a tough match but sadly did not come away with the win.

All the teams are proud of their performance in 2016 and are determined to push further in 2017 so that Souths can be the dominant club in Queensland.
